So my question is, that in retrospect knowing that even with the entry level AR's that are now available that can be had for $450 to $550 like the Smith & Wesson M&P Sport, the Ruger 556, and others like Palmetto State Armory, etc would I have been better off doing my homework and going for a Colt 6920 instead and stepping up to initially pay easily $900 to $1,200 for a pretty base version? To partially answer my own question, I still feel I got a darn good value and the Ruger is more than meeting my needs as well that it didn't break the bank when I purchased it. Over the course of 10 months I've done a few modest improvements to it including a Magpul CTR stock and carbine hand cover, an ALG Defense ACT trigger, an Radian Raptor ambidextrous charging handle and last but not least a Sig Sauer Romeo 5 red dot sight all totally just under $300 as purchased on online sales like the recent Black Friday / Cyber Monday ones. However as a Newbie into AR's I do recognize and acknowledge that the Colt has way more of a proven history when it comes to AR's in quite a few decades.Ĭurrently own a Ruger 556 of which I am extremely happy with, especially as I picked it up for $600.
